A play on words today. Remember I blogged about cutting my ties with supermarkets? Today I thought I had to shop, to buy those things I just can't purchase from the farmers!
A few items, was that all I needed? I paused to think surely I bought more 'essentials' before. How did I end
up with two rather large bills yet today my re-use bags were practically empty and my card pin wasn't pushed into the machine without thinking!
A little confused I went to the shop I always thought I could never survive without. One step into the mall, stop! I was in this store for the first time when I checked my list I discovered there was nothing in here that I really needed! A lovely feeling the ties were breaking faster than I thought.
My weekend shopping, a feast for the eyes, sent by autumn, scent without chemical, presented in the rustic way, presents from the harvest, autumnal gifts, fragrant essences of the past summer showers.
Elements of nature all essential to locally grown produce. Try not to grumble when it rains....
I don't have to be skilful when using nature's ingredients (it helps!) Textures and flavours speak for themselves. A seal of approval from my father is all I need as he savours the meals I prepare each day of the week.
I know he deserves to enjoy each meal after the years he endured my 'recipes' brought home from school!
I will be shopping with freedom this weekend and enjoying the changes of ingredients rather than selecting another shrink wrapped box or spending too much time translating those labels!
Today I have chosen a photo which shows a selection of produce I bought last weekend. I am reflecting on how each person I bought from took time to explain the best way to prepare each ingredient to enhance the flavour if a meal. Quality of service with a smile and a chat seldom found when I pushed a trolley around!
Autumnal presents, presenting this season Autumn
My iPhone is back in my pocket ready for the next experience I will share with you. Speak soon
ps I hope you spotted my play on words
