Scoop

Why scoop?

The inky liquid surrounding the olives rich in beneficial oil. Harvested from the olive tree branches, cold pressed is best.

To be fair they are being sold by the scoop as how big or small is a handful? I couldn't resist a photo when shopping last weekend.

On my list of recommended books to read a trilogy by Annie Hawes recollecting her life amongst the olive groves in Italy vividly depicts the hard work involved when olives are harvested by hand. I would read these books over and over again. Indeed I think she inspired my interest in the reality of living in Italy away from the tourist side.

Just typing my blog my mind us full of the pictures she painted of her lifestyle. Amusing yet educational, life was far from simple.

When looking at my photo I noticed how inky the liquid appeared. This is when I thought 'scoop' a story to be first with the news to the ink press.

I stopped to think again, no longer do we read the first scoop in printed media its demise is evident.

A news scoop online hits social media before the inky printing press.

Digital media with links not ink!

Strange!

A wooden bowl of olives giving my mind two completely different focus points! Both a pressing subject in one way or the other, is it only me who thinks this way?
