No photo today just sharing an experience we had when out for a walk.
I dislike the road we had to walk back along especially late afternoon when the traffic is building up. It's quite steep so I was quiet (for a change) saving my breath for walking!
We have often observed Starlings gathering in the electricity lines overhead. They seem to meet there before going to their roosting place each evening. The noise was incredible, drowning out the intrusive noise of the traffic.
We had to look up, the lines were dense black with the birds, the volume of their 'chat' increasing notably then suddenly silence then 'swoosh!' we were left listening to the traffic which seemed to fade into insignificance after experiencing the sight and sound of the Starlings!
We watched as the black blanket swooped the air, they timed everything perfectly, each bird in tune, working together. Their final note ended precisely at exactly the same time! Incredible but why am I surprised....it's nature
We could almost touch the silence left in the air as the last wing disappeared. Never think they are only Starlings
Visual and audible picture left in my mind, something my camera couldn't capture or recreate
